Guys. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
2018 was so fast and packed full of amazing days, with plenty of challenging days in between. I try to express my gratitude to all of you ~ wedding and event clients, subscription clients, market customers (new and regular) and all of my small business friends and vendors, as often as possible. There are times, where we are so caught up in a swarm of customers around us waiting to be helped, or wrapped up in a conversation with a bride, trying to be sure that we have every detail of her fairy tale wedding that she is imagining and trying to convey to us, we just miss out on the opportunity to chat with some of you and to thank you. It’s important to me, that you all know, that I know, that 2018 would not have been as wonderful as it was without each one of you. So, know that we see you and we do appreciate you.
You all are the peas to our carrots!
Ironically, 2018 was the first year that I chose a word of the year. I chose “Grow” to guide me and inspire me through the year (Obviously, on the farm, but also spiritually). I stenciled it on a piece of craft favorite (because if you know me, you know I use craft paper everywhere I can), framed it in a giant frame, and hung it on the wall in my kitchen ~ so I didn’t forget to grow something every day.
Man, was it effective. So effective that I kinda want to keep it my 2019 word!
Last year’s schedule was so full and plentiful, we are using much of January for planning and to prepare for an even more exciting 2019.
2018 provided me a completely booked Petaled Pail Wedding and Event schedule, a growing list of floral subscription clients and our best market year yet with lines of our customers at our tent on Thursdays and Saturday mornings, completely selling out on the regular. On the farm, we had many successes and almost an equal amount of fails, but that’s flower farming life and we survived it. We’re at the mercy of Mother Nature and we’re still learning what works and what doesn’t.
There is no time for hibernation! So, while it may appear quiet here for a few weeks in January, know that we are still here, working in the greenhouses, starting seeds, planning for more and bigger beds, increasing our perennial beds, creating new products, updating websites and putting systems in to place to accommodate the increasing demand for our designs, services and products.
We’ve already kicked off a new year with our monthly subscription deliveries. They included some of our favorite varieties, like Bells of Ireland, green hydrangeas, white wax flower, creamy white cremones, seeded and blue eucalyptus, stock, and chrysanthemums. These were specifically designed to be a breath of fresh air for a new year.
We’re hoping to end the next few weeks with a seed rack full of spring flowers and herbs, an updated redesigned website and a freshly organized business plan for another busy year. (Fingers crossed that we are this productive).
In case you’re still wondering, my word for 2019? INTENTION. Because I have ridiculous expectations for 2019 and I’m intentionally bringing all that I have to the table to make sure they all happen.
What are your goals or plans for 2019? Do you have a word for this year? Tell me in the comments.
